Thank you for all the information Michael. You can't beat product recommendations from someone who has travelled the road you are on, lol.

I have attached a photo of the penny table I made last year. It looks blemised on top corner but it is just the lighting. Main problem I had was how to secure and edge the table prior to pouring the resin. No matter how I edged it, it always managed to find a way through, like a waterfall. The same is happening to the bottletop table, so I am gradually building up the resin, small layers at a time.

I have also attached a photo of my naked chess set. Again you live and learn. I still have to smooth and level off all the bases as I didn't ensure the stonecast levelled off at the base line on the molds. I won't make that mistake again. I am deciding how to finish them off. I am not much of a painter, so thought I would stain them, similar to the attached photo. If anyone has suggestions of the best way to do this it would be appreciated. 😊

Wow Michael, very impressive. Did you make the chess boards as well. Often wondered about making those, always seemed a little to technical for me, lol

Micahel, I have no problem with your long replies. I welcome all the information you can give me 😊 I am working the next 3 days so most likely wont have time to get things done but I am looking forward to continuing with my projects. Just need time to order a few bits online first.

Not quite getting it with the staining.

Right (Darkest) is Scratch Cover, undiluted. Yuck

Centre is Antique Oak wood stain, diluted. Not quite right.

Left is undiluted Antique Oak wood stain. Yuck

Think I need to dilute it more to achieve the result in example picture above, what do you think?

Sorry that I started this thread in the wrong forum category ☹️

Dupes of chess moulds is an excellent idea. I have always enjoyed 'dabbling ' with crafts. Soaps and candles as well. I am an amateur at everything but have fun. One day I may actually stick at something long enough to sell it, miracles do happen so I'm told, 😊 😊
