what type of plaster do i use to make a mold of a clay buste thankyou
HI PAUL. it depends on if you are going to waste or throw out the mould or use the mould more than once by this i mean as an example you would use a soft plaster for a waste mould and a hard plaster for a mould you would keep.
#1 Pottery plaster
hi thanks is it a special type of plaste it would be a hard plaster because i wont to use it several times
pottery plaster if you intend on putting what you make in the mould in a kiln. if not then any hard plaster like herculite stone plaster. or any other hardest plasters that you know of.
#1 pottery plaster is the standard for ceramics. There is another plaster that is harder and works just fine, although I've had people tell me it can't be done. Interesting, considering I was running a high production and using this stuff exclusively because it lasts twice as long and that is White Hydracal. You have to be careful that the Hydracal you're getting is labeled 'white'.
