Dennis,

If you find a sculptor, we can 3-dimensionally laser scan the original sculptures in high resolution to create the various scaled versions that you desire. This way you can avoid re-sculpting the same poses and maintain precise replication via rapid prototyping. Additionally the digital 3D data could be used for other purposes such as marketing material, animations, website graphics, etc. I also know sculptors that can assist us. Contact me directly and let's see if we can make this work for you.

This sounds like your best bet Dennis ..... get them sculpted in a larger size, say + 100mm, and scale them down with laser scanning to the various sizes needed ......I've done miniatures before ... but.. 8mm high figures? ... i don't fancy that ..... my astigmatism is getting worse as it is

What output system do you use for such small scans? The only system I know capable of the requisite detail is the Patternmaster styrene printer.

What is the resolution of your output device?

Christopher,

Our concentration and specialty is the 'input' side of these projects in terms of the 3D scanning. With some of our systems, we can actually scan with accuracy and resolution in the microns. We're doing projects similar to coins for the mint!

As for the 'output' we either let the customer handle that or we can outsource to the best solution. As with our several different scanning systems, seems no one output process can do it all. We recommend going directly to the best solution.

And from my experience I would agree that something like the Sanders would probably be the best solution for this project. We have an excellent source for this too and always looking for more output solutions. Our scanning resolutions exceed that of most output fabrication processes. This is a problem for us.

My name is Rowland Cooney and I am an independent artist that specializes in Figurine Sculpting and painting.

I can sculpt figures to any height that you may wish. My figures tend to range in height from 1/4 inch to 12 inches. My work has been on display at various libraries throughout Maryland and an Art Gallery in New Jersey. I run my own business and my work has won awards. My figures have also been featured in the Carroll County Times, a local newspaper, as well as Play Station Monthly Magazine (I won the award for Artist of the Month.)

I am also currently working on a toy that will go into production soon. I am not at liberty yet to say what company.

You can see my detailed miniature work at www.white-tiger-miniatures.com and at tuxedochad.deviantart.com. All figures there have been hand made and painted by me.

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said miniatures!
I love the photo demonstrating just how miniature with the battery!
