[I'm working on a carved walnut table that was glued up from blocks, and I used hide glue. This is a new formulation of the old standard woodworker's glue that doesn't require heating to become liquid, and seems to be soluble in water rather than in alcohol. While this means it isn't weatherproof, there are certain advantages to a glue that can be removed if need be. The glueline is a bit dark, which might look better on walnut than pearwood, but it doesn't undercut like epoxy does when sanded.]
